Spreading knowledge across the world

I'm more of a hands on and visual teacher. I prefer to show than to read because many ideas can come from one sentence. I learn more by drawing out or actually seeing what my teacher is trying to convey.
I am a 17 year old female who has so much talent to share with the people around me. I'm apart of a community service club, I play a variety of instruments, and from my experiences I've gained a lot of wisdom. I may not be certified with a piece of paper to show, but who said that in order to spread knowledge you had to have graduated and attended college? My comments on tutoring Drawing : Advanced Placement art, Junior and Senior year, with a 5 on both portfolios. Continued in art clubs while at the University of Michigan, although I was accepted to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I opted to "go blue!" for a liberal arts education. Art continued to be my life, and as soon as I was hired at Blackboard Inc. in 2003, I taught myself the entire Adobe Creative Suite, and have been a graphic designer for 10 years. As well as multi-media artist, and tutor/instructor.

I adjust to the learner and speak their language, establish rapport through mutual respect, and try and make it as fun as possible.
While I was a Rotary Exchange Student – South Africa | 1999-2000, I volunteered to tutor students of various ages every subject, except Afrikaans, and was very pleased with their progress, and enjoyed it. I excel in the Arts (Creative, and Graphic), English, Statistics, French, Social Studies, Reading/Writing (especially essay) and would be best for college prep (Highschool ages grades 9-12), as well as Creative Arts for all ages. Drawing is one of my top subjects! I was a student with the Art Instruction Schools in 2011, and maintained and completed the course with an A average in 2013. Though I am currently a self-taught student developing my traditional art skills, I am able to teach students in basic cartooning anatomy, and color theory.

When I was learning how to draw, I started out copying drawings of characters that I saw in books and TV and used what I saw to draw my own characters soon after. That was "fine" but I realized over time that it was not enough to simply "see" something drawn a type of way, but that I needed to understand "why" it was drawn that way. I feel as though the best way to teach a student is to first tackle the subject that they enjoy drawing the most, in this case character design, so that they'll be more interested in the lesson. Then break down what makes the figure look that way and how it's done so that they will have the skill and experience to pull original ideas, poses, and designs from their own memory. I am young creative and talented artist perfecting my craft everyday. I started dealing with computers in 2005 when I was in high school studying computer programming. When I graduated I moved to the major of graphic design, when I got to college it showed me that I really had a love for art. Resident Artist and an ASL PRO.

For art, I give direction, let students paint or do art however they want, then I help if needed. I give them pointers and tips for making their pieces better. Art is really how the artist sees it and what they like in the long run. In Sign language, I teach them songs to sign too from the radio and also teach words then becoming sentences. Within a two week period you can learn up to 100 words and a song.

Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. Everyone is an artist.

I have been teaching for the past two years in the art field and related. I taught at TIC Summer camp in the summer of 2012 how to use the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.). I am currently working with an after school program that teaches children between the ages of 6 and 12 what goes behind videogame creation.
I use a personalized and 'hands-off'/demonstration style of teaching. I dislike telling a student that there is a certain method they should use, instead preferring to suggest and show how I would approach a problem or get them to approach a problem differently than how they are at that moment.
