I have three children ages 12, 17 and 20 and have had many years of real world tutoring with them. I've also tutored other students, which is far easier. These experiences have allowed me to discover many techniques to keep students engaged and prevent them from becoming frustrated. I'm sure I can work successfully with your son or daughter.
