Students must be challenged, not coddled. Students at all levels need to be pushed to find their limits and then move beyond them. Only then can they achieve real growth. We must use education as a tool to educate the next generation not only for employment but also for citizenship. In so doing, we need to take into account historical precedents and objective reality. I went to Eastern Illinois University for a degree in elementary education with a focus on middle school math and science. Math and Science have always come easy to me and I have done some tutoring previously in these areas. I worked at a school all through college running the after school program where one of my tasks was assisting the students with their homework.
