I’ve graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2009. My Biology coursework has centered on theory, problem solving and critical thinking. I have a visual and hands on teaching style. I do believe that students learn better by doing labs and seeing demonstrations, not by just hearing lectures. My students thoroughly enjoy my demonstrations and labs. My goal is to do whatever it takes to ensure that my students are working to their maximum potential.
I have 5 years experience as a Biology, Chemistry, and now, a Physical Science teacher on the high school and middle school levels. From second semester freshman year I have tutored mathematics and chemistry. First it was at the campus learning center at Westminster College, then I went on to pursue a graduate degree in chemistry at Penn State University where I found that I like to teach more than I wanted to be a PhD Chemist, I was a teaching assistant for both Physical Chemistry Lab and General Chemistry for non-majors. It was this teaching experience that led me to tutor for the PSU Ag Science department in both chemistry and mathematics. I have also volunteer tutored at State College High School.
