I am a recently retired special education teacher with 27 years classroom experience. I am currently a substitute teacher in the public schools. I have vast experience working with special needs students as well as struggling regular education students. I have direct hands-on experience working with students with learning disabilities, autism, ADD/ADHD, and sensory integration. I am trained in and have taught specific reading strategies such as Orton-Gillingham. Since graduating from college, I have pursued further education through supplemental education. While working, I have attended classes in the evenings to keep current with teaching trends, practical classroom skills and the social-emotional needs of children in learning.
