I earned my Bachelor of fine art's degree in studio art and a minor in art history. While earning my Bachelor's degree I taught a beginning ceramics course, worked as a ceramic technician and a shop technician for my university. I taught at a private art summer academy, and earned three scholarships to attend workshops at CSU summer arts. After returning to the states, I have earned my single subject credential in art, tutored two years at an elementary school, taught 6th grade summer school, and student taught at two different high schools in California teaching art to students from 9th to 12th grade. After high school, I recognized in myself a desire to work with elementary- and high school-aged children. I have always been at the top of my classes and was heading for an engineering school before I discovered a love for helping kids. I do not have any teaching experience but I spent many summers working with these age groups at camp and enjoy interacting with them. I also easily understand most high school subjects and enjoy helping students find the answers they are looking for. I have very good communications skills from long use in college and post-graduate studies. I am a creative teacher. I love to design my own lessons to engage students and compliment their learning styles. I have experience teaching traditional classrooms, but my passion is non-traditional education. I love working one-on-one with students or in small groups. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education and am certified in the State of Michigan to teach 6-12th grade English and math. Along with completing student teaching, I have substitute taught in various districts as well as tutored homeschool students.
