I firmly believe that a good education must be adaptable, flexible, and incorporate a variety of learning styles if it is to be of maximum benefit to students. When teaching, I speak with my students about the kinds of activities they feel assist them most in retaining information as well as observing their learning style independently. I believe students will rise to the level of expectations set for them. I am a bit of a comedian, and I use humor to allay frustration in learning situations. I believe in setting goals and charting a specific path for reaching them, while being flexible enough to alter the path along the way. Praise and positive reinforcement are powerful tools when teaching challenging material, and I use them frequently. I received a BA in General Business from WSU, and was honored as a Cum Laude graduate. I started teaching English-Language Arts & U.S. History in central California, where I taught 8th graders for two years. Then I moved to South Korea, where I taught ESL for one year. After that amazing experience, I moved to South Lake Tahoe and taught English to 7th & 8th graders. While teaching, I also tutored after-school programs for kids that ranged from 2nd grade to high school.
