A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a passion for helping others learn. In high school I tutored students from different schools in math. After graduating with two bachelor's degrees from the University of Minnesota I began working full time as a financial analyst for Target Corporation. At the same time, I started teaching part time at a learning center. In the past three years I have been able to help students of all ages from first grade through college. For the past year I have been teaching an ACT prep class for high school students.
I believe that every person has an optimal way in which they learn. Ideas that seem complicated can be made easy by simply changing the way in which it is presented. I have worked mainly with children, but enjoy teaching all ages. I tend to take a systematic approach and keep my lessons structured. I like to have students keep some sort of record of their practice time, as well as their progress. I also am a strong believer in making learning fun, so I try to listen to my students' needs and pay attention to their learning styles so I can create activities that they will not only find educational but fun as well.
I began teaching at a very young age. I began my own music lesson company which taught basic level of piano, guitar, saxophone and voice lessons out of my house before I began high school. After achieving my certificate of proficiency in Spanish from Hamline I then began to also privately tutor Spanish. I also have earned my TEFL/TESOL certificate and will eventually go abroad and teach English overseas.
