A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience in every level of student. My first degree (A.S.) was in Engineering and I worked at higher level math, including a college Teacher's Assistant in Calculus. I went on to obtain a B.S. in Education. I took the coursework for Middle and High School endorsements in 4 other subject areas. I work in Remedial Education at a local university currently.
I have always believed everyone can learn and everyone has different learning styles. Finding what works for the student is often the key to life-long success. I have a great connection with students and am always a believer they can be successful. Patience, motivation and desire are essential to success.

I believe that all children are unique and gifted in some way. I truly prefer to work with them one-on-one. Teaching is very subjective. Each individual learns according to his/her own style. What I find challenging and rewarding is to find that point where it “clicks”. I believe the best way to learn is through experience and discovery. As an example, I can describe the intelligence of an octopus. But until you actually see a video of one opening a jar for a treat, do you truly realize it as a thinking, planning being. I feel that teaching an individual how to use available resources is just as important as the actual subject. Enabling a student to go out and discover the wonders around him/her through research and education is a wonderful thing indeed.

A Little Bit About Me...

During college, I changed my major several times, taking numerous classes for each one to determine what I wanted to do with my life. I experimented with Political Science for two years, in which I took classes in criminology, speech, and history. My next year of college was spent in English and Writing, where I focused on the obvious, as well as classes in psychology. The last few years of my college experience, where I ended up graduating with a Bachelor’s in Finance, were based around all of the science and math classes that Ohio Dominican University had to offer.
