Over the past three years, I have tutored several students in mathematics, biology, and biochemistry at the Academic Support Unit of the Multicultural Life Center at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. I guided their development of individual note-taking strategies, study habits, and problem solving skills. I chose to tutor mathematics and biology in order to enhance my interpersonal, people management and critical thinking skills. I tried to help the students to the best of my ability and in a way conducive to learning. At a major university, biology and engineering students, let alone chemist need to take general and organic chemistry. So it is required to tailor how I tutor to what they needed. In some case it was a guide through problems because they knew the basic information and could not correlate from one step to the next. Other cases would be where giving examples and working through problems in a non-math related way. After college I worked for three years.During that time I applied and received a scholarship to the Medical College of Pennsylvania, from which I graduated in 1994. I completed an Internal Medicine Residency at MCP in 1997. After residency I worked as an attending physician in Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2000, and in Berlin, Maryland, from 2001 to 2004. In January, 2004, my wife became severely ill, and I decided to take time off to raise my two young daughters. I taught at the Dawn Training Center in Wilmington, DE, from May to October, 2006.
