Because I have tutored adults, children as young as four, and all ages in between in a range of subjects, I have a very accommodating teaching style. I know how important it is to adapt teaching techniques not only to age, but also to students' backgrounds. My past experiences have made me comfortable teaching students of all ages and from a variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds. I am flexible and understand that everyone has a different way of learning a concept or idea. Having a degree in Philosophy & Religion has many advantages in teaching. I have found to better understand a subject it is best to go and study many different resources for that subject, a macro-view. However the complicated subject is, a person who knows that subject will be able to present it in a simple concise manner. With this approach I am able to study and present a variety of subjects in a concise but exciting manner. The full grasps of studying P&R encompasses many sub fields of study : i.e. history, psychology, sociology, pretty much all the liberal arts.
My teaching style would best be described as conversational at best, drawing out of the student, their knowledge or lack of knowledge. I have taught my two honors student sons that I add to their body of knowledge and they are to coalesce the information to their understanding.

I not only believe that all students can learn, but that all students learn in various methods. My preferred teaching method is a combination of Constructivism (hands-on, inquiry-based learning) and Behaviorism (rewards and consequences); however, I strive to internally motivate my students, and I find that making work relevant and meaningful has the greatest effect on learning. All interactions with students should be positive (even consequences, not to be confused with "happy" or "non-confrontational"), understandable, and challenging for the student. My ultimate goal is to make students self-advocates in their learning, lives, and goals.

I finished high school with a high aptitude for Math and Science. I enjoyed AP Calculus, Ap Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Advanced Chemistry. After a year as an Engineering Major, I decided to switch to Music Education. I have a degree in Music Education. In Arizona I received my teaching certification in Secondary Methods and K-12 Music.
