A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style can be expressed as hands on, or even proactive. I like to get to know my kids and figure out how I can best teach them. There are three different learning styles and I like to involve each of them when I teach. It's important to me to have a good balance when I teach to ensure that each kid gets what they need from me. I believe that this strategy can be applied to the classroom as well.
My teaching experience has been centered around a field of a court. Since the age of thirteen I have been helping a wide age group of kids learn to play soccer and basketball. When I was in high school I helped to volunteer at camps often running my own drills and games. Continuing into my college career I continued to teach soccer. A Little Bit About Me...

I was in a program called "Study Buddies" all four years at high school. I would devote a couple afternoons a week tutoring middle school students (and eventually high school students). During this time I would help them study for tests, complete assigned work, or help clarify any material that the student didn't understand. Also, I helped these students develop their writing and grammar skills. Starting my junior and senior year of high school, I began "one on one" tutoring with selected individuals. Study buddies was a program where several students would show up and the helpers would assist accordingly, but when I began tutoring I specifically met with them at assigned times. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching style varies on the child in questions ability to learn. I'm patient and will do anything it takes to help the child.
I'm in my senior year of High School, I have worked with my siblings on their school all of my life. I've helped my little brother who has ADHD with his homework, I've worked with him through book projects, spelling tests, history homework, pretty much anything and everything. I am currently student teaching as an English as a Second Language teacher through the Masters program at Hamline University and will be applying for my teaching license in March, 2010. I have extensive experience working with non-native English speakers both inside and outside the classroom. I also have spent over 10 years studying French and spent a semester abroad in France, so I am familiar with all the aspects of language learning both as student and as a teacher.
