I have worked with elementary, high school, and college-aged students, providing instruction in subjects ranging from English to biology. I am comfortable teaching a group, but I also have ample experience working one-on-one with students. I believe that course material should engage students. I do not believe that rote memorization is practical in most real-world situations, and I prefer to provide instruction in a manner that makes learning interesting and fun. I have a friendly teaching style; I use a lot of sense of humor. But, this takes a lot of hard work to achieve. The reason I am able to teach French grammar in a non-intimidating, almost very relaxing way, is because I had to master it. I have a way of getting closer to my students and to their difficulties by having the ability to relate almost every chapter I introduce to my personal experiences. As a Purdue graduate, I was the recipient of the highest level of instruction in math and science. As an undergraduate I was named on the Dean’s list six times and was inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. In order to be granted this degree I was required to gain a great understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have been on the cutting edge of computer science from the first hand held calculators. I can program in FORTRAN, Assembly, Basic, Pascal, and C languages, on a variety of platforms. After working as an engineer for 20 years, I then pursued a teaching license and have taught High School math for the last decade. I enjoy teaching and working with all children.
