My comments on tutoring Guitar : Beginning / intermediate guitar (rock, flamenco, classical)

I have three years experience teaching in the best language schools in the world, including Berlitz International, CNA Language Schools, Brazil, and TAG IDIOMA, Brazil. I have experience as a private tutor, but also as a classroom teacher and an instructor trainer. I am fully fluent in English, Portuguese, Italian, and Swedish. ALSO... I am musically fluent in many instruments, I teach and undertand music theory, but I also can teach sight-reading and improvisational styles. I am particularly good with beginning students.

Always expanding the knowledge in many areas as possible as music, instrument, worship studies and much more.
I have absolutely confidence that all people can learn play guitar, It's very important to have the professional guidance since the first steps of the learn process. Motivating students to want to learn is a key facet of my success as a teacher. I have found that educating people to understand ‘why’ things are done is essential to having them truly understand the subject matter being taught. In short I teach them how to learn. My approach always includes the “coach approach” so the student knows you honestly want them to win and get a good grade in a particular subject. An essential component of the “student teacher” experience is developing a verbal performance contract in which responsibilities of the student and the teacher are very clear. This way the student learns to “trust” me and wants to learn more from me.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach students in a way that they can relate to. Talk to them about their futures and what they would like to be when they grow up or when they graduate. I like to propose real life situations where they might have to or need to use math. I like to get to know them and learn about their interests and help them see how a certain subject could help them. I believe its about getting on their same level, gaining their respect and having them being comfortable with you. I have a proven track record of helping students succeed and having a different outlook on learning.

I love to cater to each students needs. That's why I love tutoring because I can do this. Some students are visual learners, some learn by hearing, and some by doing. I incorporate all of these into my tutoring. I want to see all of my students not only get good grades but to truly grasp the concepts.
As an undergraduate I started to tutor Chemistry in 2007. Since then I have tutored Chemistry to many different students in one-on-one and large group sessions. I have submitted by certification to be accepted by the State of Florida Department of Education and am awaiting confirmation. While in college I made straight A's for about 3 years, excelling in the sciences. I am very experienced with General Chemistry labs and lecture sessions. I am currently the Science Teacher at the First Academy Classical School program where I teach Biology and Chemistry part-time.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an avid tutor I was required to follow the avid tutoring format. Before I joined the program I was unaware of what exactly this entailed. The avid program suggests groups of 5-7 students gather around a table with the avid tutor being placed at the head of the table. My job is not to tutor, but to rather facilitate the learning as students take turns proposing a tutorial question. This proved difficult because several instances I felt the need to "break" the rules in order to truly help a student. From this experience I gained my own "style" of teaching, and it is one that caters to individual needs and individual personalities in order to relate to students on a more personal level.
As a recent college graduate from the University of Central Florida I know what it takes to face a difficult situation and make the best of it. My first two years at a local community college were ... read more
