My teaching style is basic. I feel it is most important for a student to grasp the basics before they can move on to more complicated subject material. I also am a strong believer of parental involvement. A parent knows their children's learning patterns best. I like to use different approaches. A Little Bit About Me...

The 2009-2010 school year will be my third year as a substitute teacher. I have worked with all levels of students, from special needs elementary to AP high school courses, and in both urban and suburban districts. I had some training as an educator in college but have lots of real world experience as well. I have a deep understanding of research strategies and love all of the social sciences. I also am a parent to a third grader who recently tested into her school's gifted program and have plenty of experience supplementing curriculum to encourage the accelerated learner.
I believe that no two students learn alike and the most important thing is to make sure students are having fun with learning. As a holder of a BS in Chemistry, I have a very strong grasp of science and mathematics, as well as a passion for the written word. I have volunteer experience tutoring my fellow students at Eastwood High School, out of which came two years' of summer tutoring for one of the individuals I helped while volunteering. My methods are amorphous and change to the needs of the student, but typically fall in the range of serious, yet enthusiastic and fun.
I feel the need for tutoring is the need to simply obtain information in a form that is different from the one presented in the classroom. My teaching experience, coupled with related activities outside the classroom has provided me with a diverse background with much to offer to the position of computer tutor for the Ann Arbor college. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Flint this May, 2008. Prior to that, I had an extensive student teaching experience in both suburban and urban school districts.
