A Little Bit About Me...

I have been employed with my internship for approximately 2 years now. The company is called ChAMP (Children Achieving Maximal Potential), I work with autistic children in their homes. I follow the child's treatment plan. I work on daily living skills, personal hygiene, physical activities, practice email, puzzles/games etc.
I like to have a schedule written out so that the child knows what will be expected of him/her that day. I am very organized and like to complete tasks in a timely manner. I like to address all the questions the child may have during a lesson, I try to explain things in several different ways so that child will grasp the concept in a way that makes sense to him/her.

Spreading knowledge across the world

I am a 17 year old female who has so much talent to share with the people around me. I'm apart of a community service club, I play a variety of instruments, and from my experiences I've gained a lot of wisdom. I may not be certified with a piece of paper to show, but who said that in order to spread knowledge you had to have graduated and attended college? All in all I aim to please and I give 100% because 99 1/2 won't do.
I'm more of a hands on and visual teacher. I prefer to show than to read because many ideas can come from one sentence. I learn more by drawing out or actually seeing what my teacher is trying to convey.

I was on honor roll in high school on a consistent basis. My best subjects were English and Writing. I attended Pennsylvania State University for Communications with a focus on English Writing and the study of Film and Media Arts. I have a thorough understanding of the English language and a strong knack for comprehension. I believe that I would be able to teach my techniques for not just memorizing subject matter but for comprehending and understanding it.
I help my students to ask questions about why something is this way or that way. It is not as simple as just memorizing subject matter in order to regurgitate it for the upcoming test. The purpose of teaching is to help others understand something that is known as true.

I have a B.S. degree in music. My instrument is classical guitar, with which I have developed a great degree of skill and I have performed many recitals. After college I worked for three years.During that time I applied and received a scholarship to the Medical College of Pennsylvania, from which I graduated in 1994. I completed an Internal Medicine Residency at MCP in 1997. After residency I worked as an attending physician in Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2000, and in Berlin, Maryland, from 2001 to 2004. In January, 2004, my wife became severely ill, and I decided to take time off to raise my two young daughters. I taught at the Dawn Training Center in Wilmington, DE, from May to October, 2006. I also have extensive experience teaching junior housestaff and Nurse Practitioner trainees.
I have a fairly informal teaching style, and I tend to use a lot of humor. I try to connect the information I am trying to convey to what the student already knows, rather than simply provide facts to be learned by rote and regurgitated on an exam.

I earned my BA in 2007 and I have been working in a public Montessori school since then. In addition to my current position as Technology Coordinator, I have volunteered as an Odyssey of the Mind coach and I have worked in the after school math and language tutoring program.
