A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a senior in high school, and I tutor classmates and my younger brother age 11 and his friends. He is in the fifth grade, and it is really easy to tutor him. My teaching style is that I determine how best the student learns through observation and direct incouragement, instilling confidence for them to break through all barriers. My experience includes earning a bachelor's degree in liberal arts and a master's degree in psychology. I worked as a family therapist for seven years with a wide variety of clients including senior counseling, family counseling and grief counseling. Everyone has style of teaching that is unique. Mine is at first appearance very laid back, but on closer inspection is very powerful and extremely effective in the long run. My strategy as a teacher is to study and assess a student first, then to develop a plan with the student regarding how we should approach a task or problem. I am big on having students develop a stronger internal locus of control, empowering them to feel capable to tackle anything that they might encounter with or without the help of others.
