Fun and intense. I refuse to be drab or boring. Associate learning with life, colors, songs, music, memories, movies and media. Pete and Repeat were sitting on a fence. Pete fell off. Who was left? Repeat. Pete and Repeat were sitting on a fence. Pete fell off. Who was left? Repeat. Make it fun and they will learn.
High school was a blast, and I loved every moment!! I was the history buff, drama geek, grammar police and still am to this day. I did High School plays every year in High School, scored perfect on the English portion of my ACT, was a teachers aide for my History and English teacher, wrote for the school paper, studied Journalism, Drama, English and History as hobbies in High School as well as Photography and the Arts.

My comments on tutoring ACT : While teaching, I also taught classes to raise ACT scores in English and in Reading. My students' scores always went up, and on average, the students usually scored four points higher on the ACT than the previous ACT. More than one student even jumped from a 15 in English to a 29. Many students were able to obtain scholarships and avoid remedial college classes due to better scores in English and Reading on their ACTs.

After graduating from high school in 2003, I began to work as a substitute teacher in 2004 for Sheridan School District. I continued working for Sheridan School District as a substitute teacher until around 2008, when I was about to graduate from college. From the fall of 2003 until the end of the summer in 2006 I attended Arkansas State University, where I won first place in the 2003 Freshman Writing Competition. I transferred to Henderson State University in 2006 to finish my education. I graduated from Henderson State University with my Bachelors Degree in English in December of 2008. In the spring of 2009 I took a Masters class while working at a Golf Pro Shop in the Hot Springs Village and in the summer of 2009 I started the non-traditional teaching program within the Arkansas Department of Education. I began working for White Hall High School in 2009, and stayed there for thr ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a positive and patient way of getting through to students. Science was my favorite subject matter in college and I like to break down difficult information into terms that are easier to understand and follow. For example, I like to break down scientific terms by their roots. In doing so, my students not only remember what the terms mean for that class but can also apply that knowledge in future class work. I also believe in using reinforcement techniques such as repetition, writing, and regular revision/quizzing of the subject matter so that this not only keeps the information fresh but also make it easier to build on that information further.
As I graduated with an honors bachelor’s degree in Biology, I started working at my university as an academic tutor. Based on the performance of my students, I was further promoted to the “Lead Science Tutor” position where I co ... read more

During my master's studies I was asked to share my research in International Relations in Little Rock, St. Louis, Dallas, Waco, New Orleans, and Honolulu. Upon receiving my master's degree from Arkansas State University, I received a position as an adjunct instructor in the political science department for Paragould. I speak professional level French in which I am pursuing a second bachelor's degree in and I also speak conversational spanish which I continue to study at the collegiate level.
My teaching style is to go head on with my students and to address every weak point possible. It is crucial to understand how the student both feels and interprets information. If a student does not seem to comprehend using a certain teaching method then it is imperative to find a different way to present the course materials. I have been very successful with my teaching methods and h ... read more
