Upon earning my International Baccalaureate diploma in high school, I immediately decided teaching music was what I wanted to do. I attended the University of South Carolina and performed in many professional music ensembles including: USC Orchestra, USC Wind Ensemble, USC Symphonic Band, USC Percussion Ensemble, Palmetto Pans and I also performed and a recorded a full length album with a band that was voted best in Columbia, SC. In 2004 and 2005 I marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and greatly enhanced my teaching, playing and performing abilities. Since then I have been teaching in the public education system and loving it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that every child can learn, but every child learns differently. I feel it is very important to connect the content with the students. It makes the learning more meaningful. I enjoy working with students in small groups so that I can give them the attention that they need. My students learn through many of their own experiences as well. I am very patient with my students. I very rarely give my students an answer to a questions. Instead, I ask in the student appropriate questions or point the student in the right direction to figure out the answer on his or her own. I believe in positive reinforcement and allowing the child to succeed. Each learner is capable of learning when given the chance.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have enjoyed working with children for a number of years. They are fun and truely like to learn. Watching a child actually discover what is being taught is absolutely amazing. All people learn different ways so finding fun, different activities is a great way to teach. Having patience, consistancy, and encouragement are key concepts when working with children.
I am a recent graduate of East Tennessee State University. I have a degree in Elementary Education and a teaching license in Tennessee and South Carolina. I have worked in an after school program for 4 years with pre-school (3 years) to 6th grade. I was a substitute for 5 months for kindergarten through 12th grade.
