I have been a tutor for several years. While in college, I have tutored several subjects. Here are my testing scores: ACT 32 (English 35, Science 31, Math 33, Reading Comprehension 29) SAT 2100 (Verbal 670, Math 700, Writing 730) Based on my scores for the National Merit test, I was selected as a National Achievement scholar. I have tutored in both group and individual settings. I believe that the best way to improve is to PRACTICE.

I have taught Spanish and ESL at the collegiate, upper/high, and middle school levels. I earned my B.A. in Spanish with a history minor from Baylor University in 3.5 years and graduated Magna cum Laude. I earned my M.A. in Spanish at Baylor University in May of 2010. I have tutored extensively both during and after my studies. I look forward to working with you.
I believe that anyone can learn. I approach history as a story (albeit a very detailed one) and languages as a skill set. I don't do rote memorization, but instead emphasize the patterns, causes, and effects of concepts. If you can begin to understand the why and the patterns behind concepts, the material becomes more meaningful and a lot of the need for rote memorization is removed. My teaching style is friendly and approachable. I find putting a student at ease in the beginning allows them to open up to me in order for us to both find out how he or she learns best, especially since I feel learning styles vary for each individual and often differs for some subjects. For example, I may want to use pictures and art to explore history versus reading and lecture type presentations.
I have taught both college and AP High School for college credit in the areas of Humainties, Religious Studies and English composition at three different institutions. Though I do well in large classroom settings, I prefer more personalized instruction settings. I think I would make an excellent tutor in the areas of English Composition and Literature and World History on both the high school and college level, and would likely do quite well to tutor high school French.
