I started working as a Redirect Aide in one of my local elementary schools. I worked with students who had emotional and behavioral disorders, special needs students and also regular education students in the elementary level. Second, I was a substitute teacher who took of classrooms in Early Childhood through 12th grade classrooms. Third, I completed my student teaching to obtain my teacher certification. It took place in a 4th grade Mathematics Classroom. And now I am currently a Substitute Teacher at my son's elementary school until I obtain a teaching position for the following school year.

I graduated from WTAMU in May of 2009. I started my career in August 2009. I was trained for and have worked as a Math Recovery teacher since being hired. I realize all children do not learn the same. I will utilize different options to help your child succeed. I like to use hands-on materials whenever possible. While attending college I tutored fellow students in Literature, History and Political Science. I was able to help failing students achieve a minimum of passing grades while some excelled to A’s in their class. I raised six children and not only did I spend many hours helping my own children with their home work I also helped neighbor children complete theirs as well. I adapt individual tutoring techniques to each student’s specific needs and learning style. I teach study skills that students can use the rest of their academic career. I am patient, caring and supportive to each student. I am available for home work emergencies and pretest studies. I prefer to work with student and parents as a team with open communications.

Each student has an individual learning style, and I like to determine ways that each student learns best, and teach to that style. In the classroom, I do not believe in giving the students pointless busywork or worksheets, but rather prefer to include all the students in discussion and peer-led reinforcement of a lesson I presented. I am a creative person, and as such, bring that into my teaching. I participated in the New Jersey Writing Project training, as well as Six Traits Writing curriculum, multi-sensory Alphabetic Phonics, and the Herman Method of phonetic reading instruction.
