My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have taught poetry in grades 7-12 and on the university level.

Student centered instruction is the approach I use in my instruction. That means that the student's needs and learning style direct the way the information will be delivered and activities that will guide the learning. Students learn best by doing, so I only lecture for small amounts of time.
I have taught for 12 years in both a private and public school in Greenville, SC. I am currently teaching at Anderson University but in the classroom and on-line. In grades 7-12 I have taught English literature and writing as well as drama courses. At Anderson University I teach English 101, 102, and 205.

A Little Bit About Me...

I've always known that I wanted to work with children and adolescents. Prior to college, I was chosen to enroll in a course that helps those desiring to work in education or any filed working with young people. Also, I worked as a Substitute teacher and Paraprofessional Teacher for a special needs classroom over the course of a school year; which include the areas of reading, mathematics, science, and language arts. I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Child and Adolescent Psychology with a minor in Sociology in May of 2009, and I am currently working on my Master's of Counseling. I am a hands on kind of teacher. I like to find ways to make teaching come to life and be a fun and enjoyable experience for the student. The more one on one I can be the better. I think you can be a better teacher when you know and understand your students more. I still maintain a great relationship with girls I counseled at camp back in 2001 and 2002.
