While I enjoy working with a younger population, I have had more experience with middle school, high school, and college students. I am very patient and easy-going, but I also expect that my students perform the tasks asked of them in the time given, as to further reach our goals. I have a descriptive way of teaching, but I am also a firm believer in using abstract methods in order to obtain and understanding. Visual aids can also be very helpful, such as using pictures, every-day items, or a chemistry model set. As a graduate of a 'Public Ivy' institution, I have had a very well-rounded and intensive education. I earned two degrees from IU: a BA in Spanish and a BS in Biology and Chemistry. I worked at LearningRX as a cognitive skills trainer where I worked with students who were having difficulty in school and I was able to find their areas of difficulty and help build those areas up while also helping with their memory, visual acuity, and processing speed. I like to have a relationship with the students I tutored where they feel comfortable with me; I want them to be able to tell me the problems they're having with the work and what I can do to help. I like to be friendly with them while still being an authority figure where they want to do their best. I think this type of relationship allows me to push the students to their maximum limit without discouraging them when we're having a difficult session.
