A Little Bit About Me...

Raised in a disadvantaged social-economic environment, I sought success by joining the military; traveling and learning about the world. Upon my retirement I decided to give back by bringing the diversity of the world into the classroom. I graduated college cum laude and served as the President, International English Honor Society; Sigma Tau Delta. My degree in English Literature provides many levels of the written word by allowing for the understanding of differences that is desired and required by the individual learner. I teach all aspects of the curriculm, with emphasis on grammatical skills. During my last long-term position my students increased their state reading and writing scores by over 7%. I like to teach using a hands-on approach. I believe the best way to learn is to do or at least attempt to do. I really find satisfaction when I see the “light bulb” go off and there is a glimmer if understanding in the eyes of my pupil.
For the past 10 years I have been teaching a wide variety of students ranging in age from their 80’s to 8. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked my way through college, working full-time and attending classes whenever possible. I graduated from Ohio State with a degree in mathematics, majoring in the field of Actuarial Science. So, I know the value of accomplishment through perseverance and determination. As a full-time employee, I deal with statistical data and clientele daily. I have excellent communication skills both oral and written and use these skills extensively dealing with the public.
