A Little Bit About Me...

I am a doer who has shared his knowledge and experience in a variety of ways. When I worked as a photographer and filmmaker, I taught those subjects at many different institutions, from an after-school program for elementary school kids to NYU Graduate School. For many years now, I have worked as a science writer and editor. I mentor many newly minted Chinese scientists and engineers who work for IBM in Beijing, teaching them both English grammar and the proper form and style for peer-reviewed scientific papers they are writing. I developed and taught courses in Communications and Technical and Professional Writing for Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY.

My interest in academia is rooted in my desire to help children learn and to make that learning lifelong. It is my goal to make learning fun, purposeful, and memorable. I have extensive training in teaching to various learning styles and am committed to student success. My experience is mainly in the private school sector with small class sizes. I have worked in both a self-contained classroom, teaching all major disciplines, as well as served as the Math and Science Teacher for grades 5 through 8. Additionally, I offered afterschool tutoring for students needing further assistance in Math.
