I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a minor in journalism from Oswego State University. While in school I studied psychology and child development as well as great works of literature. I have always had a knack for grammar and spelling and I enjoy proofreading documents and helping others to develop their ideas. I am familiar with many books in literary canon and I am interested in reading other books that teachers are including in their curriculum. Although I have no formal teaching experience, I do have been developing my teaching style for many years while I worked with the developmentally disabled. I learned to identify a teachable moment, which is a time at which the student would be most receptive to learning. As a tutor, I would create those moments and boost confidence by encouraging the student to explore the subject in the way that is most interesting to them.

I am a well round person; strong in geography and Latin American history. With my BA in Geography I would be able to help out with Physcial, World, GIS(Mapping) and Latin American History classes (12 cr.) Most of my career has been in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) computer software that allows you to do diverse analytical and spatial applications. I also have been a tutor and substitute teacher, as well as a volunteer a Christian school library for grades K4-K5. My most recent profession was an office assistant. I have taught in First grade for the past two years. I have also taught pre kindergarten and kindergarten as well as substitute taught in grades K-6. I have a B.S in childhood education as well as a NYS Teacher Certification. I am currently working on my M.S in childhood education.
