My comments on tutoring Microsoft Office : I am very comfortable with the material.

I have been a tutor at UCA for about 2 years. I tutor mainly in math but I have experience with other subjects. I am a computer science major. I know how to use computer languages like Python, C++, HTML, and Assembly Language. I know how to use most of the Microsoft Office programs which include Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Word. I have a little experience with Access but I am not a pro in it.

First and foremost, I understand that no two children learn the same. I believe many children struggle in a learning environment simply because they are not comfortable with it. I excel at personal communication, and make it my first goal to find out how the student is going to learn the best. Whether it requires dancing, music, pictures, whatever it takes, once a student is comfortable they are far more likely to absorb information. This holds true for any age. I also worked at the Talent Development Center as a tutor for biology, botany, chemistry and biochemistry. I have a strong background in all science courses and maintained a 3.87 GPA throughout college.
I have been involved in a lot of activities and feel the best way to teach is to relate to the student. I started teaching Music in 1984. I taught part-time, temporary while pursuing education goals and working as a professional musician. In 1998 I became an adult educator, and in the following nine years I taught GED, Workforce, Computer and ESL. I learned to speak Spanish from some of my ESL students. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed.
