A Little Bit About Me...

I have one year art teaching experience at a public school. I also have had 5 years in an art school to develop my schools. While at the public school I taught 7th through 12th graders. I taught them various drawing skills that grew steadily stronger each and every day we drew. At the end of the school semester I had several students whose worked exceeded what I thought possible. Ans one student was granted a scholarship to a school based upon my recommendation.
Firm yet fair. I show different techniques and then let the students try on their own as I give suggestions as needed.

I love watching children's eyes light up from learning and this is what I strive for with every teaching moment. I know that children become discouraged when they do not acquire the skills other students seem to master almost immediately. I know that parents become equally discouraged when they want their child to succeed but do not know how to help them do so. Many students need more time, attention, and hands on experiences in order to be successful. I desire for all students to find the love of learning because they find they can be successful.

Coming from a smaller school, I understand the importance of one on one communication and teaching. Throughout middle and high school I tutored many of my classmates and friends, and continued to do so with whoever needed help during my college career at Ozarka. After taking Writing courses at UCA, I began to see how that one on one quality becomes lost in a larger school, so I began offering help to whoever appeared to need it. With my bachelors degree in Business Administration, I have gained many skills. I have a great understanding of writing and reading, with experience in professional essays, research papers, and checking for grammatical errors. My teaching style is a simple one: I use kindness with firmness and always attach a fun and tactile activity to make the learning memorable. My own learning style is more visual and hands-on, but I know that some children can learn by repetition and memorization, and if that's what works, then I'll adjust to fit that particular child's needs. I also use a reward system when agreed upon by the parent for when the child reaches small goals. I believe baby steps are what build confidence.
