I have recently completed student teaching and have earned my teaching certificate as an art specialist. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students at different levels with varying abilities. I have had internships at the high school and elementary levels, with time spent both in the art classroom as well as the special education classroom. As a substitute teacher, I learned to manage an array of classrooms and assumed all duties of a regular classroom teacher. While working for a day camp, I organized and led activities for diverse students ranging from age five to fifteen. I graduated National-Louis University with a 3.7 GPA, and am also in the Kappa Delta Pi honors society for teaching. I have had many years of experience in the classroom, and with many different programs. I also have tutored previously for Sylvan tutoring. I am a Golden Apple Scholar, which is a prestigious award for teaching scholars that I won my senior year of high school. My experience has mostly been with younger students but recently I have tutored some high school students, as well. I am very passionate about teaching. I am a very hands-on type of teacher that really likes to get the student involved in their learning. I try to understand the level of where the children are and build on that. I am patient, considerate, consistant, non-judgmental and feel it is not too early to start teaching or a child to learn. There is so much children can learn and we, as adults, can learn from them. I found working with young minds in different Early Childhood agencies is one reason for earning my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education.
