During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic. I love to teach students of all ages. I love the looks on their faces when I help them get something that they never thought they would learn. As a graduate in Accounting, I was given the tools to be able to teach and comprehend a lot of math skills.
