I have taken Spanish classes since I was in Kindergarten. My high school's Spanish program was one of the most difficult in the state and my professor was amazing. I was inducted into the Foreign Language Honors Society my junior year of high school. I have learned the language very well and have read many books in Spanish too. I am currently a Spanish minor at the University of Kentucky and majoring in dietetics. The current class I am taking is a Spanish writing class which has taught me a lot about proper writing skills in the language. I enjoy Spanish and I hope to study abroad in Spain, Peru, or another Spanish-speaking country soon.

I begin by establishing rapport with the student, and usually I prefer a lighthearted, encouraging style of interaction. I believe every student is capable of learning, but may not have been shown the strategies and skills that will best suit them. I like to help the student identify their learning style, and then teach using strategies that will coincide with that learning style. Often when the student has been taught some different strategies for learning, s/he is more capable of tackling new lessons without additional help. I have recently gotten back from spending the last two years studying linguistics and Latin American literature at the Universidad de las Américas, one of Mexico's finest universities. While in Mexico i took part in a linguistic study where I helped identify language problems such as grammar and pronunciation and design lesson plans to help over come those problems for children ranging from grades k-12.
