Tutored (recommended by school) fellow classmates elementary though college and various friends and family. Was the type of student that would teach myself and help others that were behind. A Little Bit About Me...

Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I worked one on one with students helping them with math, reading, and science skills. I assisted in classroom teaching of mini lessons too. I also helped with their after-school program, I also created supplemental study guides and multimedia software to help students to improve their study skills. Tutoring has been rewarding, because it has increased my interest in the field of education. Subsequently, I am seeking certification in Biology 7-12th. As a first generation college student, I appreciated when teachers made me feel special, and I try to do the same. I was a Resident Assistant and Wellness Coordinator for a dormitory at WVU for three years, where I received a Resident Assistant of the Year Award. I currently teach four sections of general biology lab and two sections of comparative anatomy lab. I was awarded the 2010 Graduate Teaching Assistant of the Year award for the Department of Biology with a 93% evaluation rate.
