My passion is making mathematics accessible. After high school I was underwhelmed by mathematics. However as I took more math in college, I realized how much I had missed in high school. As I learned more mathematics, I became determined to make it my business to find and implement better methods of educating people on mathematics in a way that does not overwhelm them, but simultaneously makes their learning experience more useful. I studied teacher education as an undergraduate, and attended graduate school at Dartmouth where the program in mathematics has a specific focus on preparing one to teach mathematics. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience teaching started when I worked for Northlands Job Corps Academy. The students that I helped usually came to me not for their classwork, but because they held an interest in learned how their computers and personal devices worked. I feel that most learning comes from performing an activity rather than being lectured, so I prefer to give students a chance to perform the work after I show them a few basics (supervised of course).
I am a Senior Computer Science major at Siena college; my programming experience covers a range of languages, although my strongest is Java. I have taugh young girls ranging from 10-13 years old for an LDS Church, and enjoyed working with these girls, arranged activities to fun places and helped college students with certain skill sets - math, English, Computer Programming (C+, Networking, Access, PeopleSoft). I am a very helpful person who loves to help others to success with their classes, and enjoyed seeing how their grades improved with some of the help that I have rendered to these students - they did well on their tests, quizzes and coached them with Speech class as well.
