SAT Tutor with Specialized Curriculum

A Little Bit About Me...

I am studying Secondary Math Education at the University of Vermont. I am a senior and I have completed all of my education and math requirements for my degree. In the spring I will be student teaching in one of the local schools. Last year, I spent over 100 hours in the classroom observing and teaching. This year, I am in a middle school classroom 2 hours a week teaching math to English Language Learners. I also spend time tutoring students in the local teen centers in Burlington. Over the summer, I worked at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, VT at a summer camp teaching children about aquatic biology and how to make inventions. I've had a deep enthusiasm for mathematics and physics since an early age, when my father, a professor of physics at Dartmouth College, introduced me to the beauty and elegance of the principles underlying these fields. A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate at MIT, I have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, and have complete master of those taught at the high school level. I have also completed several advanced courses in chemistry, biology, and physics, but am still young enough to remember the techniques I used to learn those subjects when I myself was a high school student. I have prepared many students (privately) for final exams in biology, geometry, and algebra.
I have a knack for creating analogies and mechanisms to help students remember things for exams, as well as strategies and ways of thinking that may be a little different than what was taught in class (but still gets them to the final result). My experience teaching started when I worked for Northlands Job Corps Academy. The students that I helped usually came to me not for their classwork, but because they held an interest in learned how their computers and personal devices worked.
