A Little Bit About Me...

As I think of my life without teaching, I cannot imagine what else I would be doing. I believe that children learn in a variety of ways. Some through listening, some through reading or watching, and some through doing. My goal is to find the way that works for each child and use that method to help them on their way to reaching their full potential.
I graduated from the University of Wyoming within 3 1/2 years and student taught in first grade. Since then, I have been teaching in several preschool programs and spent part of one year as a long term substitute for a Title 1 program. This position enabled me to spend extra time and gain experience in the Guided Reading program.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have recently been introduced to the teaching field by substituting elementary students at the local school. Im a social-able person which helps me interact with the students better. Students feel comfortable with me because they think that I'm a outgoing person easy to relate to. I have patience with the students because I go at a pace that suits the students needs therefore it makes the students comfortable to learn. If they have a question I show them exactly how to accomplish tasks. I believe patience is a virtue to having success in the learning process of a student.

More About This Tutor...

After graduating from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., I returned to Wyoming to work in politics and government. I have been asked to teach chapters on Government in the local high schools as well as teaching Sunday School classes locally in Cheyenne. I serve in the State Legislature as well as working in the community to help youth succeed in their goals.
I try to create a fun learning environment, ensuring the youth can ask questions, have flexibility at their learning speed and still master the material in ways that will stay with them. Depending on the subject area, I like to give hypotheticals, questions and real-world examples that will help achieve memorization easier.

In the past,I've taught ESL, Health-care Occupations & Opportunities, both MRI/CT Applications. I also worked for AOL as an on-line teacher/tutor/mentor in their Academic Assistance Center.I hold two cleared teaching credentials one for Vocational Ed.and the other for Adult Ed. These qualify me to teach GED,ESL and any health-care related class. Currently,I'm working as a substitute teacher in Weld County, a grandparent mentor in Larimer County, as well as a part-time instructor at ELTC teaching courses in Medical Terminology and Phlebotomy.
I like the students to learn how to learn. While I will guide them, test them and occasionally point them toward appropriate reference materials, I do not do the work for them....that's their job and the only way they will develop the appropriate learning skills, self-confidence and a thirst for knowledge.

I started teaching while in college; I worked as a Teaching Assistant when school was in session (teaching college students) and as a camp counselor at a French immersion camp in the summers. This allowed me to work with students ages 8-22 and to develop different teaching styles for different ages. I am currently writing my PhD thesis; although the subject is Francophone, I'm writing in English and feel that I have strong writing skills and the ability to teach them. I've taught English to non-native speakers in France as an "English assistant" as well as in the US as an ESL tutor. I recently started tutoring in a local school and am working with students on a variety of subjects, from GED to English.
I have a communicative and interactive approach to teaching. I believe that a child learns best when actively involved in the process of learning and discovery. I am also a very pati ... read more

My teaching style is trying to relate to each person and make everything easier for them. Dealing with A.D.D my entire life, I've learned how to break apart the entire problem(or essay) into better and more clear parts. A good educator needs to demand accountability from it's students. I believe that a student needs to do a little work every day, instead of a lot in one day. I stress that every student keeps a notebook that highlights main ideas in every subject. I have been through it, so I know what is important long-term.
I'm a 27 year old that accepted a part-time internship in Fort Collins, Colorado. Also, I'm in the process of applying for PHD programs (starting in 2011) in hopes of becoming a professor in the long-run. Although I don't have experience as a paid tutor, I have volunteered and helped out a plethora of people in two main areas: Dealing with disabilities i ... read more

For the last 3 years I have been working as a special education teacher at a non-proft treatment facility. I enjoy working with children. I conduct myself in a very positive manner and do a very good job in navigating between teaching material to the class and supportively intervening with behavior challenges and conducting solid classroom management. On two different occasions in the first class, I addressed a concern, did not power struggle and both situations ended up positively for the youth and for the rest of the class.
I utilize several different teaching strategies and attempt to pull strengths from the youth and work with positives. I give examples and direct youth in the direction of the correct answers. I utilize reading and instructing out loud to the class, writing on the board for further and clearer instructions and information, using real life ideas and situations ... read more

I love to work with children and adults. I feel that the best way for my students learn is for them to get hands on experience whether that be guided problem solving or actual lab work. I think that through this way my students reach their greatest potential.

I have not only an extensive understanding of science but I also know how to specifically teach science. A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher’s assistant for photography in high school, I realized that I had a natural aptitude for teaching and breaking subjects down into manageable parts. In college, I was the person that other students came to for guidance with difficult topics, from mathematical equations to evolutionary theory. Since I earned my BS in wildlife biology, I have taught in many capacities, including as a substitute teacher and as a trainer for new employees. I have taught discouraged children to read and fostered latent talents. As a tutor for the Interfaith Refugee Ministry, I worked with children and adults from all over the world, including a woman from Zimbabwe who was studying to earn her GED, but struggled just to create a complete sentence in English. After meeting with her for a few short months she had become a capable essayist and passed the test on her first attempt.
