Have been tutoring for twenty years, and have also taught on a college level for ten. I have taught in a variety of contexts, such as one-on-one, kid's day camp, online and ongoing workshops. I've taught English in India to predominantly Tamil speaking children grades first through sixth. I was also teaching mathematics and science for a semester. I have a lot of experience in the arts. I've done children's theater and worked with high school students in oral interp. I've acted in college theatre productions, and also had the chance to direct, stage manage, and work with stage production on multiple shows. As I think of my life without teaching, I cannot imagine what else I would be doing. I believe that children learn in a variety of ways. Some through listening, some through reading or watching, and some through doing. My goal is to find the way that works for each child and use that method to help them on their way to reaching their full potential.
I graduated from the University of Wyoming within 3 1/2 years and student taught in first grade. Since then, I have been teaching in several preschool programs and spent part of one year as a long term substitute for a Title 1 program.
