I have the exerience to do a super job tutoring.

I have 6 years working with students from grade level 5 to grade level 9,individually in classroom settings as well as in small groups outside their normal classroom. Four and on half of these years were spent in the ELL Program helping Hispanic students to incorporate their use of the English Language in their classroom academics. I have the ability to speak Spanish fluently, as well as read and write it. I also have spent four years teaching an after school class helping some struggling students with their Math, Language Arts, and Science homework.
Since I have been employed in the ELL Program, I am very comfortable working with small groups of kids and also in a one on one format.

I attended Heritage University for 3.5 years in pursuit of my Nursing degree. I have taken College math, written many college papers, and studied alot of science along the way. I also cordinated a mentor program through YVCC for almost two years. I have recently changed paths and with obtain my BA in criminal justice in less than a year. We all have different views, and I would like to find that gateway into the minds of children so that they can see and understand more. I use different methods for each individual. It depends on each person what they like and want in order to find the motivation in themselves. It is satisfying to see people realize that they can achieve more than they first thought.

I love mathematics and one of my passions is to teach it. I know that not everybody learns the same ways or has the same abilities for certain subjects and that is why I differentiate my instruction. I use the constructivist approach because I believe that students learn best by building on what they already know. I also like to use the Socratic questioning to make the students think critically which would help them throughout their lives.
