I teach how math and science can be useful and fun!

I have a BS degree in chemistry and an MS degree in math. I currently teach at the college level for various colleges including dual credit courses in many high schools. I have been a tutor for over 15+ years. I have been a statistician, a chemist in a laboratory setting, worked in the medical field, and done consulting for various companies through out my career. I love math and science, and my passion allows me to make learning and applying math and science interesting and entertaining to even the most difficult audiences.

Math can lead to greater success.

I use both tactile and working through examples to explain how to solve a problem. I like to break down the problems into smaller pieces and work each piece at a time. I also backtrack to previous related concepts to ensure understanding.
I have experience tutoring elementary math, algebra, geometry, college algebra , and preparation for the ASVAB and SAT tests. While tutoring my students I not only explain the method in solving a math problem, but I also challenge them with leading questions. I want to ultimately help them to develop a process to efficiently work through a problem. Also, I have a strong desire for my students to succeed in passing their class. Finally, I am passionate about students reaching their goals in math and other areas of their life.

My first experiences with tutoring were as a volunteer when I was an undergraduate. I tutored a variety of students from children to adults and found great joy in being able to help them learn math. During my time as a graduate student, I have tutored many students ranging from a group of 3rd graders to college level students. I do hands on instruction I try to relate whatever concept I am attempting to teach into a hands on experiment so the student can see, feel or even smell things that will help make things easy for them to remember. With Math and Algebra I try to relate it to the real world and teach them to use their imaginations and visualize things to make the concepts more acceptable to them.
