I prefer a style that empowers the students to take ownership of their work so they will become better thinkers and writers. I prefer discussion-based learning opposed to "lecture-style" teaching where I can interact freely with the student as a peer-tutor. More specifically, I like to use white boards and visual aids in sessions.
I have worked in Cedarville University's Writing Center as a tutor for two years. I recently graduated from a private college in Illinois. I was attending in hopes of receiving my Bachelors in Secondary English Education. Due to life events I had to graduate early without the full completion of this degree. I have been helping in 6-12 English, theater, Language Arts, and Reading classes for 4 years and I plan on starting my Master's Degree in School Counseling next fall.
