A Little Bit About Me...

I prefer one-on-one work with the students that stresses not simple correction or copy editing but legitimate comprehension on the part of my charges. My teaching style is comprehensive and rigorous and requires serious involvement and passion on the student's part. I do not hand-hold and I do not coddle but I am not uncaring: students learn best from experience, and that's something I can provide.
I have worked in a number of positions that have required me to teach and train, whether that be as an instructor at a local radio station who was responsible for preparing DJs to broadcast or a tutor in Hong Kong who was responsible for developing the English skills of a number of non-native speakers at all levels. My experience is backed up by my certification to teach English as a second language and a track record as somebody who writes at a professional level.

I also held a position as a tutor in the Writing Center for my former alma mater. I am skilled at working one-on-one with students from all grade/age levels. Before launching my teaching career, I held positions in the heart and fitness field, in the retail clothing sector, and raised two children. I am experienced with the Common Core curriculum and understand the demands it puts on today's student. Child Psychology and Developmental Psychology is what I studied and will continue to study when I go for my Masters Degree.
