A Little Bit About Me...

Science is not the easiest of concepts to grasp so in order to enhance student learning I input a bit of humor into my lesson. I am very good at creating analogies to scientific processes and I have seen positive results from this. My goal is to create student understanding without the typical "memorize and recall" method which I feel is a burden on education and does not promote student learning. I love teaching science and my method is always to make the subject fun and interesting in any way that I can.
After graduating from Central Michigan with a BS in Business, I decided to go back to school to become a science teacher. I will be certified to teach grades 7-12 in Biology and in Chemistry. I have received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math Teaching (1994), Biology Teacher of the Year Award (1997) as well as the Outstanding Educator Award (2008) to mention a few.
