With a degree in elementary education, I have been successful teaching and tutoring young children. I am especially proficient in teaching reading and have learned several different approaches to evaluate and direct students in their learning. I'm also knowledgeable in math, history, art, science, and computers and familiar with a variety of curricula. I love working with children and helping them succeed. I enjoy getting to know the child as an individual in order to form a relationship with them that will allow me to identify their learning style and interests. All learners have unique learning styles that influence learning success. A student’s favored learning style is a valuable resource for a tutor, allowing the student to discover more about the world and themselves while simultaneously developing a joy for learning. I use informal assessments to instruct my instruction, and assist students to monitor their own learning progress. I have always been a quick learner when it comes to mathematics. It is something that comes almost natural to me. With that said, I understand that this is not the case for everyone. I feel that a good majority of people hate math because they don't understand math, and because they don't understand math right away, they don't try to understand it. I had a wise professor once tell me, "Math isn't difficult; there is no such thing as difficult math. It just seems difficult because you haven't learned it yet". I think math can be easy for anyone, they just have to learn it first. I started tutoring math when I attended Faulkner State College. I then attended the University of South Alabama where I tutored math and physics. I have tutored all levels of math and also tutored not only physics, but lab activites as well.
