I currently teach at a small K-12 school where I taught business classes. My current course load includes Introduction to Career, Business Management, Business Math, Accounting, and Work-based Learning. I am also the director of the Stratford Alternative Education Program. My scholastic work includes a PhD in Mathematics and a MS in Electrical Engineering. I have taught and done research in mathematics for over 30 years and have tutored students at the high school and college level during the same period, as well as mentoring them in research projects. I think that teachers need to be flexible, and be willing to adapt their teaching style to suit the needs of their students. This is especially true for tutors who are often involved in a one-on-one relationship with those they tutor. I'm patient and respectful of the difficulties students have with expressing their thoughts in words. It's not unusual that they get frustrated trying to fit them into what can seem like a formal and obstuctive grammatical framework. Math is also a subject with which people often have difficulty.
