A Little Bit About Me...

I have throughout my entire grade school career been both a tutor and a mentor. As young as in nine years old in fourth grade I was selected to tutor kindergarten children in mathematics. As I grew older, I continually tutored my peers in a multitude of subjects, math being the prominent and my best subject. In my junior year of high school, I was personally selected to mentor and tutor at risk middle school aged children at the partnered junior high. The program I was in was specifically for high school seniors who applied and made it, when one applicant dropped out, I was their first choice as a replacement because of my excellent grades, behavioral record and proven responsibility. I believe everyone should be provided an opportunity to learn. I have used a lot of manipulatives to teach math techniques and seen a positive result of this. I also believe in using research based strategies to lead each child to their potential.
