My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I have had stellar success working with students with decoding disorders, though I do not follow a prescribed curriculum such as OG.

Let's start out by saying I am definitely not your average tutor! Fun is vital to motivation, and I live on the stuff! I have been teaching for over fifteen years in a variety of environments, working in inclusive environments with children aged birth to twelve. I am now in my second year as a Special Education Teacher at a private school in DC that specializes in working with children who have Learning and Emotional Disabilities. I hold my M.Ed.HD in Special Education from GWU and a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. During the summer, I serve as the Behavior Intervention Specialist for Fairfax County Park Authority in Inclusion camps. Even in high school and college, I tutored peers and proofread papers. I am an experienced dyslexia tutor. I have been tutoring children and adults for the past 10 years using the Barton Reading and Spelling System. The Barton Reading and Spelling System is an one-on-one intensive tutoring system! I received my training at The Dyslexia Tutoring Center in Hawaii where I volunteered. I have been a private Orton Gillingham tutor in both Hawaii and now in Virginia both in-person and online. I have taught English and Grammar, and am in the final stages of my Ph.D. in history.
