Fun and creative teacher

I am a certified math teacher with a concentration in middle school math and algebra. I have been a teacher for nine years and I have been a private tutor for over ten years. I emphasize the learning of concepts and understanding to the extent that the student is able to teach them back to me as a validation to themselves that they have grasped the idea of the moment. Learning is progressive. Each student has his own point of understanding of a concept and all future concepts are built upon the previous one(s). Although drill may be appropriate for some skills, my preference is project or problem based methods that draw on the learner's experiences and interests. I work from students' current skill levels, provide challenging problems, model successful learning skills, encourage students' to express creativity and intuition, and employ formative and normative assessments.
