My comments on tutoring Chess : I have played as a hobby for many years.

I am very easy going and move at the pace of the subject!. What's most important is to ensure that the information has been relayed properly to the student...and said student has retained the information successfully.

My comments on tutoring Chess : Fun game that take strategy and planning.

I obtained a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in aquatic science, from Wittenberg University in 2006. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored elementary students in math and science twice a week for two years. After college, I moved into the marine science profession. In August of 2008, I started teaching High School Biology I, Earth and Space Science, and Physical Science to students in Polk County. In addition, after school hours were spent with two students taking AP Biology classes. Both students achieved a 4 or higher on their placement exams. My tutored students reported an increase in their ability to record class notes, study, and take tests. My previous tutoring experiences have included subjects such as; elementary science, elementary math, Algebra (I & II), Geometry, Pre- Calculus, Anatomy, Physiology, Biology (both College and HS level), HS Chemistry, basic w ... read more

More About This Tutor...

In my experience, I do not teach but simply assist people who need it. In college I helped my friends by explaining how to correct their writing, and offering advice. I am patient and willing to help as best as I can without being condescending towards students.
My experience is more hands-on and personal, I suppose. I love history and write constantly, in addition to having a great interest in photography and television. I majored in American Studies which focused on history and culture in the US, and minored in Creative Writing and Digital Arts. It is a dream of mine to help others learn, as I think college and knowledge is an incredible and necessary aspect that people need.

I have tutored people in math before. Their grades have ranged from 7th-10th grade. I have also helped friends in classes in college that have to do with statistics and other math classes. When I was in high school, the highest math class I had ever taken was Calculus BC. This was the highest math class that my school offered so I believe that I could people pass their math classes in high school and possibly College. I also scored a 730 on the Math section of the SAT.

I teach by the theory that every child is not alike but longs to be on the educational level. Although some students have the ability to go straight to the answer, others take the scenic route. I pride myself in being able to not only find the alternative(s), but to implement the alternative(s).
I aspire to improve myself in hopes of improving other. I have experience in the classroom, leadership, and most importantly teamwork. I have worked with students (tutoring- elementary to high school) and have taught and substituted for middle and high schools. My areas of interest are math and science.

While earning my degree in physics at the University of Central Florida I found that tutoring was an excellent experience for both my students and me. I have tutored many different subjects including math(from algebra to differential equations), astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology. I taught middle school students through presentations of physics in films. I also aided my student in their research papers and power point presentations as I feel comprehension and writing skills are an important part of science. I truly enjoyed doing this and hope to continue tutoring and teaching.
Throughout my years of tutoring I have found that there are many different ways that people learn. Once you figure this out learning is easy and enjoyable. I first go over what my students have been doing to learn and study the material. Once we have established their individual learning style, we go o ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I really enjoy teaching and tutoring because not only am I helping others, I am learning as well. Teaching and tutoring are about giving: giving your time, your knowledge, and the things that you know will help your students. Every student learns at his/her own pace. My teaching style is adaptive to the particular student and subject matter. I like to encourage students to learn for themselves. An example would be to explain a theory and then have the student(s) demonstrate their understanding of that theory with a concrete example, so that they are participating in the process. I like the idea of learning by participation.
Both my undergraduate and graduate collegiate experiences have given me ample knowledge and skills to draw from with regard to teaching and tutoring. The experience of doing it, however, gave me much more. While I was in graduate school at the Universit ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a journalist I have been able to work for mass media companies and also to teach. For a journalist the correct handling of the language gives the necessary skills to impart knowledge to others. In fact, when I was working for Technological of Antioquia (Colombian educational institution) in Public Relations, I had the opportunity to be a teacher at the same campus. Equally, here in the United States, I have had the opportunity to be a tutor in Spanish for a lawyer on Wall Street. My two passions in life are science and teaching! Spanish is my native language.
I like teaching and working with children and adults. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. My goal is to provide the best education possible, including the best alternative methods. My belief in the ability of each student keeps me focused and determined. A firm believer in teaching through discovery, I provide a cons ... read more

I am a self-motivated goal directed individual with high energy, initiative, and focus. As a volunteer at Florida Hospital, I was able to listen and identify issues or problem areas and form innovative solutions.

As Florida State graduate with a BS in Biology, I have a comprehensive background in the areas of math and science, as well as a strong foundation in English and Spanish.
