A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance, as well as a current CPA license issued by the State of Texas. I have taught managerial accounting at UT Tyler. In addition to this, I taught high school US History, World Geography, Economics and AP Microeconomics for five years. At this time I am exploring the possibility of leaving private industry and returning to the classroom. Teaching is my passion! Registered Nurse in Texas for 31 years (class of 1992). I have worked in many various fields including cardiology, dilasys, medical/surgical nursing, ER, rehab, renal, pre and post operative care. I have also been a nursing instructor, where I taught cardiac, orthopedics,endocrine with an emphasis on diabetes, anatomy and physiology, dosage calculation, and general nursing care, including work in the skills lab. I have experience teaching my patients and their families, who normally have very little, if any, knowledge about their conditions that they can effectively manage their health on their own.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe children today are shortchanged by our educational system. Kids need people who hold them to high standards rather than minimums. They need to feel like people believe they are worthy of success and able to attain it rather than being given built-in excuses. Therefore, my teaching style is to hold students to a high level of proficiency. I work with students in a way that builds their confidence and makes them feel like they know things others don't. There is a real "edge" that they feel when they think they might actually be "one of the smart ones" after all and it breeds both an interest and an ambition to be better.
