Tutoring is one of my best skills, its just something I do well. I’ve tutored k-12 for Amsterdam, Gloversville and Johnstown in almost any subject, I have a strong math background particularly in algebra. I’m a good writer and do some freelance writing online at times. I have some experience with computer applications such as Photoshop, MS Publisher and PowerPoint. My BA. degree is in economics with a minor in business, I’ve completed some courses in graphic communications and have taken psychology on a graduate level. While studying for my undergrad in economics I found a passion in helping others succeed as I was. I often held study sessions with groups ranging from 2- 10 people at least twice a week. When during these sessions if an individual felt lost, I would often meet with them at a later date to coach them separately. I have yet to receive a further degree in teaching but may be a path a may take. It is such a wonderful feeling to succeed at academics and I love to help others experience that.

Students learn skills by using them in a realistic, subject-specific context, and in a combined way. So they might use other skills taught before such as note taking, highlighting, all in context. The purpose of the skills are stressed, students are taught not just what to do and how, but also why. I have spent my whole adullt life tutoring, mentoring and being a role model to others by being involved as a coach for the local Pop Warner football team, as well as serving as a tutor to three middle school/high school students, in the subject of math, science and social studies. I have also served as a substitute teacher. My favorite subject areas are in American History, Government, and Science.
I do not believe in standardized testing. Each child has the capability of learning, but not all children have the ability to take tests, for whatever reason.
