A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very hands-on teaching approach. In order for a child to truly grasp a concept or show their understanding, they must demonstrate the skill. It would be a disservice to them if it was a "listen only" style.
I recently graduated from a private college in Illinois. I was attending in hopes of receiving my Bachelors in Secondary English Education. Due to life events I had to graduate early without the full completion of this degree. My experience with tutoring began in high school, when I started assisting elementary students with homework through one of my clubs. Throughout the two years I was involved, I regularly helped 6 students, along with 6 students that I met with irregularly. I prefer a style that empowers the students to take ownership of their work so they will become better thinkers and writers. I prefer discussion-based learning opposed to "lecture-style" teaching where I can interact freely with the student as a peer-tutor.
